Forbearance Calculator

How To Use
The forbearance calculator is provided to help you understand how you may be able to lower your monthly mortgage payment if a short-term problem is affecting your ability to make payments.

Every situation is different and forbearance plans may differ. Your individual situation may greatly impact the amount of your temporary payment reduction. Your mortgage company may use different information to determine eligibility and your individual results may vary from the results shown by this calculator.

This calculator can only provide a general overview of your situation based on the information you provide. Any estimated temporary lower monthly payments are based on an average reduction amount and forbearance term. It is very important that you contact your mortgage company or a housing counselor to determine your situation.

Your Existing First Mortgage Information

Some forbearances allow a reduction of up to 30% of your monthly mortgage payments (principal and interest only). Check with your mortgage company to determine if you qualify and the forbearance reduction percentage that may be available to you.

Please Note:
These results have been calculated based on your inputs regarding your existing mortgage information. Your mortgage company may consider additional factors in determining your eligibility and potential savings, which may result in a different payment amount.

Please save this information (as a PDF document) or email it to yourself, so that you may have it as a reference when you speak with your mortgage company or a housing counselor.

Every situation is different. The results shown below do not include the cost of Mortgage Insurance (MI), which may be required. Contact your mortgage company to determine your exact results and determine if you qualify for this option.

Your First Mortgage Forbearance Information

Note: At the end of the forbearance period (6 months in this example) you will have to make an arrangement with your mortgage company to pay back this amount, which is typically done through a repayment plan.
